![Dr. Rahal reviews: A picture of Mick after his hair transplant.]()
Just 12 months after Mick had a hair transplant with Dr. Rahal, and his life has completely changed. When Mick looks in the mirror now, he sees a confident and adventurous young guy smiling back.
When Mick first realized he was losing his hair at only 19-years old, he was absolutely mortified. He spent his early years at University – the prime time to build new relationships – hiding indoors and despising his reflection in the mirror.
Sad and depressed, Mick realized he had two options: to accept the situation or to change it.

Mick has gone on dates, traveled the world, and is helping others because he too was once saved during his time of need.
Tell me about yourself?
“I’m 25-years old, working towards finishing my Medical Degree, and I live in Ottawa, ON.
I go to the gym three times a week, and in my spare time, I play the guitar, and travel as much as possible.
So far, I have been to Thailand and the Philippines (both three times), Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Laos, South Korea and New Zealand.
“A hair transplant changed my life – It reignited my calling to help others.”
In February of next year, I would like to get out of my comfort zone and do something really different. I plan on going to India to work in a hospital. I want to help people affected by poverty, disease and disability. This will provide me with invaluable work experience while helping those in need.
I too was once helped in my darkest hours (thanks to Dr. Rahal). After my journey to India, I will go traveling again. My plan for the summer is to visit Chile and Argentina, in South America.
How did hair loss make you feel?
Hair loss was a crushing blow to my self-esteem. I was only 19-years old when I first noticed it, and I’m now 25. People would often comment on my very noticeably receding hairline. It caused me to become extremely depressed.
I’m a young guy, but my hair loss was aging me badly. It made me feel older and less than other men at my age – almost like I had been singled out and isolated. I felt mortified.

What made you decide to do something about it?
To prevent the hair loss comments from hurting me, I hid away indoors. I avoided going out as much as possible and I certainly didn’t venture out to bars. I guess I was embarrassed about how I looked. In retrospect, it was stupid. But back then, it really reduced my quality of life.
I was in my early years of university – the prime time of building new relationships – and I barely had a social life. I was too scared to get involved in any personal relationships because I despised what I saw when I looked in the mirror. How could anybody else love me when I had so many flaws?
This was a very dark period in my life.

What type of hair loss treatment (plugs, drugs or rugs) have you tried?
The main hair loss treatments I tried prior to getting my hair transplant were Proscar and Propecia (finasteride). However, I stopped using these medications because of the harmful side effects. I also tried an alternative hair treatment, Rogaine, which is FDA approved.

What was it that convinced you to go to Dr. Rahal for your hair transplant?
After researching hair transplant procedures for about two years, I decided this was the only permanent solution to stop my receding hairline. I then discovered Dr. Rahal. Reviews about his results were very positive on the hair loss forum.
My decision was made after seeing the work Dr. Rahal had done on people my own age. His work looks very natural. Dr. Rahal designs a timeless hairline that will not only be appropriate for me now, but also look good in twenty years.
Taking all this into account, I decided to go with Dr. Rahal. The bonus about Dr. Rahal is that his clinic is based in Ottawa, which has been very convenient for me.

How does Dr. Rahal’s hair transplant results look and feel?
A year after my hair transplant, I see a happy and healthy guy when I look in the mirror. My new hair feels awesome! Instead of worrying about how I look all the time, I am enjoying my life again. Since having my hair transplant I have gone on dates, hit the gym, and gotten healthy.
In the future, I may need a second hair transplant to fill in a small gap, but it really isn’t a burden anymore. My hair transplant far exceeded my expectations. I have been able to move on and I am now the most confident guy in the world! This procedure really changed my life.

Do you have any advice for those considering a hair transplant?
I would recommend for any hair loss sufferer to shave their head before they have a hair transplant. This will help prepare them for the procedure. Plus, it’s good to be realistic about the final outcome. You may also need a second hair transplant down the road, so be financially prepared.
As well, when designing your hairline, you need to consider how it will look twenty years from now. Ultimately you want your hairline to look natural. Dr. Rahal is very good at being realistic about your hairline design and your expectations.

Was a hair transplant worth it?
Yes! I really do feel good about how I look. I am no longer depressed and my life has definitely improved.
